UTVs and Big Game: UTV Hunting Tales from the Northwoods
When the leaves turn and there's a bite in the air, you'll find us in the woods around Rice Lake, Wisconsin, prepping our hunting vehicles for the season ahead. We're Brandon, Travis, and Levi from the RAVEK team's Sales and Customer Support, and this is our favorite time of year to put our UTV hunting accessories to the test.
Our side by sides aren't just ordinary hunting vehicles; they're integral to how we hunt smart and respect the land. With the right UTV hunting accessories, these machines get us to hard-to-reach spots, help us haul out our harvest, and when used properly, let us move through the woods without leaving a trace on our hunting trips.
Lessons from the Field
Last season taught us the importance of having the right UTV hunting accessories. Travis had a close call on a weirdly warm opening day after getting a buck down. His UTV setup, equipped with essential accessories, saved the day:
- A winch and tie-downs for loading that deer by himself
- A solid cooler to keep the meat fresh in the heat
- Our Multi-Function UTV Tail Light for field dressing as it got dark
Ongoing Challenges
We're still perfecting some UTV hunting accessories, like the best way to carry weapons. Anyone who's bumped along a rough trail in their hunting vehicle knows what it can do to your sights. We've tried everything from DIY racks to using the back seat as a gun case. This could be one we put to the engineers for future product development.
Scent control is another tough nut to crack when it comes to hunting vehicles. Brandon swears by putting his tree stand in the back seat to keep his gear from smelling like exhaust. We've also had luck using scent-killing sprays and keeping clothes in a dry scent-free bag until it's time to hunt.
Lighting the Way
For those early morning rides to your spot, good lighting is key.Our Apex lights and cargo bed light kits are UTV hunting accessories that do the job without lighting up the whole forest. They provide just enough illumination to navigate safely without alerting every animal around.
Conservation and Responsibility
Hunting vehicles like UTVs have changed how we hunt, but they've also made us more responsible for taking care of the land. We stick to trails, clean up after ourselves (and then some), and use our machines to help with local conservation efforts when we can. It's about being good stewards of the places we hunt.
For us, this isn't just about making UTV hunting accessories. It's about keeping alive a way of life that's in our blood here in Wisconsin. Our UTVs and gear are tools that help us do that, letting us hunt ethically and responsibly in some of the best country there is.
Looking Ahead
As the season kicks off, here's to safe hunts, straight shooting, and those quiet moments in the wild that remind us why we do this. Whether you're a seasoned hunter or just starting out, remember that the right hunting vehicles and UTV hunting accessories can make all the difference in your experience and impact on the land.

Your gear should be the last thing you worry about out there.
